Discover Lyon life at expat show
Connexion edition: September 2010

A MAJOR expatriate fair for foreign residents living in and around Lyon will return to the city for the third year running this month.

Lyon à la Carte aims to provide information and advice to help expats and students settle into their new adopted home. However it also aims to appeal to globally minded people who are just passing through the region for a brief period.

The show offers practical information, contacts and services, little discoveries, secrets and tips about life not just in the city but in the wider Rhône-Alpes region and France generally.

Event co-founder Donna Willis said: “Expats are a vital force, bringing so much to the city and the region in general. The international expat expo is where you can begin or extend your network to live, work and feel at home in Lyon.”

Lyon senator and mayor Gérard Collomb added: “The event is the best way to discover all the richness of the territory and obtain the information that you will need to settle here: culture, sports, education, and the various social networks.”

More than 70 exhibitors will be present to offer a wide range of expert information. Speakers include Ruth van Reken, an expert on raising children overseas, the co-founder of the Families in Global
Transition group and co-author of Third Culture Kids: The Experience of Growing Up Among Worlds.

Adding to the festivities will be Lucy Wadham, author of The Secret Life of France and top French chef Bernard Marillier.

A website has been set up to offer further information and provide a space for expats in the area to communicate and connect.

Lyon à la Carte takes place at the Hilton Cité Internationale on Sunday, September 26. Tickets can be bought in advance at €8 for adults and €5 for students from the website: www.lyonalacarte.com
